Our Esthetician says....
"Don't skip the cleanser! At night, it is extremely important to remove all traces of makeup and sunscreen from skin. Dirt and oils also collect during the course of the day, and can lead to breakouts. Your skin rejuvenates while you sleep, so it's important to "wipe the slate clean" and treat skin, so that maximum recuperation/regeneration can occur.
Cleanse once again in the morning upon rising, to remove accumulated debris that occurs from natural skin shedding. Cleansing skin on a daily basis will lead to "fresh, clear, healthy, ageless skin".
Not all cleansers work the same. Bar soaps (generally) are too alkaline and can change the healthy pH of the skin, which can lead to irritation, breakouts, dryness and rough skin. Look for a natural pH balanced cleansers that wont strip the acid mantle. Also consider that 60% of what we apply to our skin, is absorbed, so check your ingredients!
Many ingredients can be disruptive to the hormonal balance of our bodies, especially to young people!
How to choose a cleanser that will work for your skin type?
1. Is your skin dry, normal, oily, or combination (both oily and dry)?
2. Do you have issues with your skin that you would like to address? Common issues include breakouts, acne, hyper-pigmention, wrinkles, dryness, sensitivity, etc.
All of UltraPure Cosmetics cleansers are good for "all skin types", but which one you choose depends on which underlying issue you are trying to address.
A woman in her 50's who has good skin but wants to work on keeping it looking clear (reducing hyper-pigmentation or brown spots) and less lined and more hydrated. We would suggest starting with either Bright Skin Nourishing Cleanser or Illume Pink Grapefruit Cleanser. Both of these cleansers help reduce hyper-pigmentation over time, revealing more even-toned skin. We may also suggest pairing it with a second cleanser, such as, Wild Honey Cleanser to keep skin hydrated, and/or AHA Exfoliating Mint Cleanser to gently exfoliate skin to help with texture and fine lines. You can rotate the cleaners for peak effectiveness. We would also recommend a toner or "liquid treatment" as a follow up in this scenario. Our pick would be Phyto Infusion Treatment with Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, Proline, Pea Protein and Rice Protein. Follow with the appropriate skin serum or moisturizer.
A woman in her 20's who has oily skin with breakouts. She has very sensitive skin, and it becomes inflamed very easily. In this case, We would recommend starting with a calming product, such as Wild Honey Cleanser. Once the inflammation is under control, we may introduce the Illume Pink Grapefruit Cleanser 2-3 times per week, and see how she responds to it. Or, we may suggest the Papaya Enzyme Mask 2-3 times per week to help unclog the pores while still using the Wild Honey Cleanser. We would follow up with a toner or "liquid treatment" such as Edelweiss Citrus-Mint Purifying Cleanser which may help with the breakouts. Then finish with a light serum such as Hydra-Lipid Rx which offers hydration without oil.
